CEO directed all districts for trying to increase poll percentage: CEO

Bhopal: Through video-conferencing, Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind directed all districts to pay special attention to awareness campaign for increasing polling percentage. He urged District Election Officers and officers of Women & Child Development, Public Relations and Labour department to ensure every possible effort to enlighten voters about Vidhan Sabha elections to be held in the state this year. He informed that polling percentage was about 70 in last Vidhan Sabha elections, which has to be increased upto 80 to 85 percent. He also directed officers of Women & Child Development Department to pay special attention to reducing gender gap.

Shri Govind informed that gender ratio was 834 earlier, which has increased to 896 now. He asked Public Relations Officers to give a large scale publicity to the campaign for creating awareness about SVEEP. He directed to include names of migratory labourers in voter lists. He informed that number of such labourers was 15 to 20 lakh earlier, which has come down to 5 lakh. Shri Govind directed to issue voter ID cards invariably to construction workers.
The CEO urged officers of Doordarshan and Akashwani also to motivate people to cast votes through their regular programmes as well as innovative methods. Doordarshan Additional Director Shri Shashank, Akashwani’s Programme In-charge Shri Rajendra Kumar Saxena, Additional Director Public Relations Shri S.K. Awatramani, Joint Director WCD Shri S.C. Shukla and others were also present on the occasion.
