9 Killed in Road Mishap
Bhopal: At least 9 people, seven of them children, were killed and 20 others injured as a tractor trolley carrying them tipped over in Tikamgarh district, police said Tuesday.
“The accident took place late Monday in Nanhi Tekri locality when the driver lost balance while negotiating a turn and the tractor trolley overturned,” said an official of Bodera police station.
According to him, all the 29 people on the tractor trolley were returning from a religious festival. Nine of them, including seven children, died on the spot while 20 others were injured.
“The district administration has announced an ex-gratia of Rs.10,000 each for the kin of those killed. The injured are being provided Rs.5,000 each,” Tikamgarh District Collector P. Rahi said.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also announced Rs.50,000 as compensation for the family members of the victims.
