339 couples tie nuptial knots at Budhni under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with his wife participated in a mass marriage function under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana at Budhni in Sehore district late Monday night and wished a happy married life to the newly wed couples. At the function, marriages of 335 couples were solemnised by pandits with Vedic rites and four Nikahs were solemnised by Qazi Shri Samiuddin Khan.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the State Government is implementing a number of schemes to ensure girls’ welfare including Ladli Laxmi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana. He said that Mukhyamantri Kanyadan and Nikah Yojana is unique example of communal harmony in the state. Through it, solemnisation of Kanyadan and Nikah under the same roof presents a unique scene of composite culture.

Pension to parents with only daughters: The Chief Minister said that parents with only daughters need not worry now. The State Government has launched Mukhyamantri Kanya Abhibhavak Pension Yojana for them. Under it, parents above 60 years of age having only daughters will be eligible to get pension. This will be in addition to other pensions.

CM participates in marriage procession: The Chief Minister along with his wife participated in the marriage procession from Budhni railway station. Entire town was profusely decorated on the occasion. Grooms were welcomed with showering of flower petals on its arrival at the venue Dussehra Maidan. The Chief Minister blessed all the couples.

Housing Board Chairman Shri Rampal Singh, Forest Development Corporation Chairman Shri Guru Prasad Sharma, MARKFED Chairman Shri Ramakant Bhargava, MLA Shri Vijaypal Singh, Budhni Nagar Panchayat Chairman Shri Subhash Punjabi, Janpad President Shri Banwarilal Marskole and large number of local distinguished persons were present on the occasion.
