1473 Voters Reject Contestants in MP Poll Fray

1,473 voters in Madhya Pradesh rejected all candidates in poll fray under Section 49 (O) during the first phase of polls for 13 Lok Sabha segments in the state on April 23. The voters, who came to poll stations and registered their presence, said they did not find a suitable candidate to vote for, informed election officials on Saturday.

Section 49 (0) of 1961 provisions for voters to go to a polling booth, register their presence by signing and then not vote for any candidate., such votes arfe recorded by poll officials as a rejection of all contestants in the fray.

Khajuraho topped the table with a whopping 712 voters exercising favour for the provision, while Bhopal with a tally of 418 was placed second.

Chhindwara accounted for 189 while Betul had a total of  41, Satna with 31 and Balaghat with 20 were other significant contributors to the growing trend apart from Rewa, Vidisha, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad, Mandla and Sidhi.
