Scuffle between Bajrang Dal men, cops in Bihar’s Nalanda, dozens injured

As many as 12 people were injured after a scuffle broke out between police and Bajrang Dal activists in Bihar’s Nalanda district as the police personnel resorted to lathi-charge to pacify the crowd. The incident happened during the Aarti of Lord Hanuman near Amber Chowk.

It has been alleged that police officials beat Bajrang Dal activists with lathi when the ruckus broke out during the aarti.

Retaliating to the lathi-charge by police, Bajrang Dal activists became furious, created a huge ruckus and asked the shopkeepers to close their shops. As the incident triggered panic in the area, a heavy police force was deployed in the area to maintain the law and order situation as the chaos by the Bajrang Dal activists ensued.

Senior police officials along with Sadar DSP Dr Shibli Nomani reached the spot and tried to pacify the crowd. At the same time, a large number of Bajrang Dal workers reached near Amber Chowk raised slogans against the administration.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Abhishek Palasia said that action will be taken against the suspects after the investigation. A Bajrang Dal activist, Vicky, said that every Tuesday an aarti of Bajrang Bali is performed but it was only this time that the police lathi-charged the crowd.
