Narmada nowhere above danger mark now

Bhopal: State has got a little respite from heavy rains. At present, Narmada river is not flowing above danger mark anywhere in the state. Major reservoirs are full upto to brink or near it. Meanwhile, 5 gates of Bargi, 7 Tawa, 12 Indira Sagar, 13 Omkareshwar and 2 gates of Rajiv Sagar dam were opened. Today, 3.3 mm rains against the average of 7.8 mm were registered in the state. So far, 1181.6 mm rainfall has been registered in the state, which is 62 percent more than normal. This year, Betul registered 112 mm above normal rains, Jabalpur and Sagar 109 percent, Indore 107 percent and Rajgarh district registered 100 percent above normal rains.

Crop loss due to heavy rains and floods is estimated in 33 thousand 658 hectare. Efforts are underway to complete survey of crop loss and distribute relief to the affected persons at the earliest. It is estimated that crops have been damaged in 955 hectare in Seoni district, Ratlam 10 hectare, Rajgarh 3808 hectare, Hoshangabad 4875, Ashok Nagar 6792, Sheopur 2949, Narsinghpur 1000 hectare, Shivpuri 1400 hectare, Morena 11 thousand 600 and crops in 269 hectare are estimated to be damaged in Chhatarpur district.
