Kasab Demands Perfumes, Toothpaste as Judge Puts off Trial

A special court trying Mumbai terror attack suspect Amir Ajmal Kasab has adjourned till May 2 its ruling on the reports regarding medical investigation of the suspect’s age. The accused has asked for providing some facilities like an Urdu newspaper, perfumes and toothpaste in prison.

Special Judge ML Tahilyani adjourned the trial till May  2, while Kasab, in a letter to his lawyer Abbas Kazmi, requested him to seek approval of the court for these articles and also permission to walk in the verandah outside his cell
 
Kazmi presented his letter, written in Urdu, before the court. When judge Tahaliyani asked Kasab about his choice of newspaper he said, “Urdu Times.” Answering a query by the judge, Kasab said that in Pakistan he read Nawaye Waqt (Latest News).

Kasab has also sought that all his personal belongings and money confiscated after his arrest, should be deposited in the jail accounts in his name.

Kasab’s letter reads: “Janab Abbas Kazmi Sahab, I need a few things urgently. These are Urdu Times newspaper, a perfume bottle and a toothpaste. Also please seek court’s direction to police asking them to deposit the amount, seized from my possession, in my jail account.”
