Diffrence in views and behaviour for women is the main problem : CM

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that respect to women is intrinsic in Indian culture for thousands of years. Difference in views and behaviour towards women’s rights is the root cause of problem. On one hand, we worship mother power and on the other discrimination is made between sons and daughters. He stressed the need to change present social outlook about women and make efforts in government and society equally for bringing about change in this outlook with a view to preventing crimes against women. Shri Chouhan was addressing a workshop at PTRI here today. The workshop was organised on the topic of crimes against women and children and police officers’ sensitiveness. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched mobile service for helping women file First Information Report through SMS.
Home Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta and Minister of State for Home Shri Narayan Singh Kushwaha were also present.
Shri Chouhan said that modern day communication means are being used to sell commodities by displaying women’s bodies. This trend is not good. Contemplation should be made to change this perverted tendency. Both society and government need to make responsible efforts in this direction. Changes should be made in system and rules wherever necessary. He said that besides strict action against drug and human traffickers, society should also not cooperate with perpetuators of such heinous crimes.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that work should be taken up to rehabilitate destitute children sleeping on platforms. He stressed the need to identify destitute children sleeping on railway platforms by the police and chalk out an action plan to rehabilitate them.
Lauding achievements of the police, Shri Chouhan said that success has been achieved due to prompt action taken by the police after crimes were committed. Attention should also be paid to changing social mindset with a view to preventing crimes against women. He also stressed the need to include examination of moral strength also in police recruitment. He said that police service is a patriotic service.
Director General of Police Shri Nandan Dube said that police action is being taken with sensitiveness in cases of crimes against women and children. He informed that women’s cells have been set up in four major cities of the state to check crimes against women. Deputy Directors Prosecution has also been posted at women’s cells for effective prosecution and ensure that accused persons get strict punishment.
Additional DGP Smt. Aruna Mohan Rao threw light on the workshop’s topic. She informed that the two-day workshop has been organised to further sensitise police officers towards crimes against children and women. She informed that regular monitoring of crimes against women and children is being made in the state and prosecution process has also being strengthened. IG Women’s Cell Smt. Sushma Singh proposed a vote of thanks.
