Chargesheet Filed against Ghandy

Delhi Police has chargesheeted arrested top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy for trying to establish a network of the banned outfit in the national capital, reported PTI.

Ghandy was chargesheeted in a local court in New Delhi under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, said report.

Report said that the Delhi Police Special Cell framed charges against him under the Act, in addition to booking him for various offenses under the IPC relating to cheating, forgery and impersonation.

In a over 700-page chargesheet filed in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja, the police alleged that Ghandy was trying to set up a Maoist corridor in New Delhi along with his associates, said report.

The investigators, who claimed to have recovered a fake voter identity and pan cards from Ghandy, also referred to a CD in which he was shown to be addressing armed cadres of the banned organisation. He was arrested here on September 20 last year.
