AAP govt fulfils second promise, slashes power by 50 percent

New Delhi: Delhi government has slashed power tariff by 50 percent for those consuming electricity upto 400 units. The move is expected to benefit close to 28 lakh households in the national capital.
It needs to be mentioned here that the issue of power tariff reduction was amongst the promises, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made in its manifesto.
Earlier, Kejriwal on Tuesday met the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) over holding audit of power distribution companies in the national capital.
“Fever can get cured, will take rest later. We need to do as much as we can do,” Kejriwal said.
The Delhi cabinet is meeting on Tuesday to decide on an audit of power companies.
Kejriwal heads the power ministry in the new government.
The AAP convenor, who was sworn-in as Delhi Chief Minister on Saturday, missed office on Monday as he fell ill but had a full working day at home as his government made its first major announcement of providing 666 litres of free water to each household per day.
