Winter Chill: 30 Dead in UP, 65 Flights affected in New Delhi
Dense fog and chilly conditions continued to bite most of north India for a second consecutive day on Sunday, the cold wave is reported to have claimed 30 lives in Uttar Pradesh.
With the mercury continuing its punishing nosedive, six deaths were reported from Mirzapur, while five deaths each were reported from Ballia and Banda districts; four from Kanpur Dehat; three from Muzaffarnagar; two each from Sonbhadra, Hamirpur, Fatehpur and Chandauli; and one each from Farukkhabad and Unnao, said media reports citing officials.
So far, 74 cold related deaths have been reported from Uttar Pradesh this season.
In New Delhi, some 50 international and domestic flights were delayed for up to three hours and about 15 cancelled due to operational reasons.
