WB Sports Minister Dies; Guv Expresses Condolence

On demise of West Bengal Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Subhas Chakraborty, Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi has expressed his condolence describing him as a ‘mass leader’. Chakraborty passed away in Kolkata this morning.

“A dedicated trade-unionist, experienced administrator and lover of sports and culture, Subhas Chakraborty will be best remembered as a mass-leader,” the Governor said in his message.

“I extend my sincerest condolences to his family and associates,” said Gandhi, offering tribute.

Chakraborty (68), who was suffering from cancer, died at a private hospital in Salt Lake today.
