WB Govt Orders Inquiry into Tamag’s Killing

An inquiry has been ordered into the killing of All India Gorkha League president Madan Tamang by the West Bengal government, said media reports.

After Tamang was killed by unidentified by assailants in Darjeeling, chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee held an urgent meeting with state chief secretary Ardhendu Sen, home secretary Samar Ghosh, DGP Bhupinder Singh and Urban Development Minister Asok Bhattacharya and took review of the situation in hills, reports said.

Deploring the attack, the chief minister gave directives to the hill administration and the police to take immediate action against the assailants, said reports.

Quoting sources, reports said that he also called for heightening security in the entire hill areas, reports said.

Bhattacharya also condemned the incident and said that the assailants should be immediately arrested, said reports.

Trinamool Congress condemned Tamang’s killing in broad daylight in and alleged that there was no security of life of common people in the state and sought Central intervention.
