Watchtowers, CCTV Cams to Guard the Monument of Love

Unprecedented security provisions are being put in place to watch over the Taj Mahal, arguably the most visited monument in the country, this tourist season.

Security personnel will man eight watchtowers and close-circuit televisions installed to guard the 17th century mausoleum that attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists from all parts of the world and walks of life.

Security arrangements at the white marble monument are being reassessed on the basis of intelligence inputs, say media reports and come at a time when India is preparing for the busy tourist season.

The paramilitary Central Industrial Security Force is responsible for protecting the monument.

The Taj Mahal was built by Mughal ruler Shah Jahan after the death of his wife Mumtaz.
