Verdict 2009: Cong Achieves Historical Figure in 20 Years

In the Lok Sabha elections 2009,  the ruling UPA emerged as the largest alliance with the Congress reaching a historical mark of 200 for the first time last two decades. The top losers of the elections are the left parties followed by the RJD and LJP. The NDA suffered marginal losses.

According to latest reports, the UPA has won 237 seats and was leading in 22 consitituencies. The Congress  had won 166 and was leading in 33  seats.

The NDA had won 150 seats and was maintaining a lead in 10 seats. The BJP had won 88 seats and was leading in 30 seats.

The Third Front had won 57  seats and was leading in 11. As compared to 2004, it is losing 35 seats.

While the Fourth Front had  won 22 seats and was leading in 5 while others had won 22 and was leading in 7.
