Congress workers in Madhya Pradesh’s capital city Bhopal staged a unique protest on Monday against the rise in the cost of tomatoes. Tomato prices have crossed Rs 100 per kilogram in many parts of the country over the past few days.

To protest against the sky-high rates, Congress workers went to Bhopal’s 5 Number market to buy vegetables carrying a briefcase and a symbolic fake gun. According to them, the price of tomatoes is so high that the vegetable needs to be guarded inside a briefcase and with a gun.

Slamming the BJP government in the state, Congress Spokesperson Vicky Khongal said, “Inflation used to be called “dayan” (witch) during the Congress rule, and now it has become a “darling” (loveable) during the BJP rule.”

The Congress workers then proceeded to keep the vegetables they bought inside a vult in the party office.
