BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley has said that former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and leader of opposition LK Advani have made invaluable to the party and no party position is need for them to serve and guide the organization.
While releasing BJP’s manifesto for the October 13 Haryana Assembly elections in Chandigarh, Jaitely said: “I have always believed that both the senior leaders Atalji and Advaniji have been leading the party for five decades and have made invaluable contribution. In whatever capacity they are able to serve and guide the party is welcome by every worker. They can do so for as long as they wish. What position (in the party) they hold is irrelevant.”
In response to a query on reported inclination of Advani to “distance himself” from politics, the BJP leader said, “I have not read any of his statement. You should address the question to the person to whom it relates.”
Jaitley was commenting on reports quoting Swami Vishveshwara Teerath of Pejawar Mutt that Advani had expressed a view to distance himself from politics, but the senior BJP leader was not clear when and at what time.
