Two TC Leaders Killed in Burdwan Clash
At least two Trinamool Congress (TC) leaders were killed and four others injured in Bardhaman district of West Bengal on Wednesday, the killings come amid a fast intensifying political turf war in the state.
Shams-ur-Rahman (56), a local TC leader and school headmaster died of stab wounds in a field at Kharjuli Natungram, the police said.
Media reports say Rahman was allegedly attacked by a mob of nearly over three dozen CPU(M) activists.
Another TC activist, Jafar Ali (50), succumbed to injuries at the Burdwan Medical College Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment after being attacked by lathi wielding mob.
The condition of Qutubuddin Mandal (60), one of the four injured at the hospital, was said to be critical.
Local TC leaders have filed an FIR against 25 persons, including CPI(M) Burdwan zonal committee secretary Ratan Jalani, reported PTI.
The CPI(M), however, maintained that there was no political angle to the clash.
