Two powerful explosions in Hyderabad, 18 killed

New Delhi: Powerful explosions in Hyderabad’s Dilsukh Nagar area killed 18 people and injuring 47 others. The reason of the blasts is yet to be ascertained.

All those who sustained injuries have been rushed to Yashoda Hospital and Osmania General Hospital. Notably, two days back, intelligence agencies had sounded alert to various states of possible terror strikes.
Speaking to reporters, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said, “Nothing can be said about the cause of the incident. The Ministry had been receiving intelligence inputs for the past two days which was shared with all the states.”

Reacting to the incident, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, “It’s a dastardly attack, those guilty will not go unpunished. I appeal public to remain calm and maintain peace.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has called for an emergency meeting following the reports of balst.
Union Home Ministry sources said that NSG team is being dispatched to the blast site. NIA, CFSL teams have already reached the spot. Home Secretary RK Singh said that security measures have been beefed and the area has been cordoned so that the evidence could not be tempered. He also added that the centre is in direct touch with local authorities.
The area where the incident took place is said to be a busy market where a bus stop and cinema halls are located. Dilsukh Nagar bus stop, located in outskirts of Hyderabad, is the terminus from where buses for Vijayawada and rest parts the state are caught by the local commuters.
