Two Maoists Killed in Andhra Pradesh

Two Maoists, including the Communist Party of India (Maoist) central committee member Cherukuri Raj Kumar alias Azad, has been killed in an alleged exchange of fire near Sarkepally village of Adilabad district, said media reports citing police.

The second reble has yet not been identified, reports said.

Raj Kumar, more popularly known as Azad, was the party central committee spokesman and was believed to be a close confidante of Maoist Chief Muppalla Laxmana Rao.

According to police, a gunfight took place nearly 15 km from Maharashtra border and an AK-47 rifle and two pistols were seized from the scene, said reports.

Following the confirmation of Azad’s death police are anticipating retaliatory actions by Maoists and sounded an alert in Andhra Pradesh.
