Top Gujarat CID Officials Stalled Probe into Sohrabuddin Case: Ex-Cop

Breaking silence, a former investigating officer has implicated top Gujarat CID officials of stalling the probe in the Ujjain resident Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, reported CNN-IBN.

VL Solanki, retired police officer, alleged that top CID officials failed to place his interim report before the Supreme Court, a report that he claimed to have submitted to them six times, said report.

He also claimed that he had asked for permission several times to interrogate Tulsi Prajapati, who was a key witness to Sohrabuddin Sheikh’s fake encounter, report said.

According to Solanki, Prajapati was killed in a staged encounter as well, for top CID officials apprehended that he could bear witness against them.

“I had submitted six interim reports to my senior officials. Now it is up to them how they take the case further. I had put forward a request to interrogate Tulsi Prajapati who was in Udaipur jail then. It was denied,” Solanki said while speaking to TV news channel CNN-IBN’s sister channel IBN7.

Solanki made above statements a few days after CBI was directed by the Supreme Court to investigate Sohrabuddin Sheikh case.

Gujarat Government had on August 11, 2009, told the Supreme Court that it had decided to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the family of Sheikh, who was killed along with his wife Kausar Bi by a Gujarat police team in a staged shootout in November 2005.
