TN Govt Sanctions Rs 1000 Cr for Construction of International Standard Roads

Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned a whopping Rs 1,000 crore for construction of roads of international benchmark across eleven cities of the state, reported PTI.

According to an official release, the roads will have good lighting facility, footpaths and sign boards, report said.

Following a meeting held yesterday to discuss the project, Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Advisor MS Srinivasan said that Madurai is the largest included city and will get 750 km of roads, said reports.

Before the construction of the road, water pipelines and underground cables will be laid down so that there is no digging of roads for at least five years of the completion of the project.

The construction of the roads is expected to commence in a year and they will be maintained by the private agencies for the period of five years.
