Tibetan Demonstrators Detained in Bangalore

Two Tibetan protesters have been detained in the Indian silicon capital of Bangalore after they attempted to barge into the venue of the ongoing trilateral Russia, India and China (RIC) Foreign Ministers’ conference on Tuesday.

The Tibetans were protesting against the presence of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in the city.

Meanwhile, Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and Yang met at a downtown hotel as hundreds of security personnel stood guard.

On Monday, a small group of Tibetan protesters had demonstrated against Yang’s visit in the Ejipura area of the city.

Karnataka is home to some 40,000 of the total 120,000 Tibetan refugees in the country.
