Three Security Personnel Killed in J&K

In a blast near an India-Pakistan border post, a senior Border Security Force (BSF) officer was killed and three troopers were injured in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, the officer killed in the explosion was a Deputy Inspector General of the BSF; however, his identity was yet not disclosed.

His vehicle was blown up by a powerful blast when he was on his way to inspect Balad post, some 45 km southwest of Jammu, to verify details of a reported infiltration bid from Pakistan.

Officials said that one of the three BSF personnel injured, one was in critical condition.

In the meanwhile, two army men were killed while foiling an infiltration bid by militants from across the border in Keran sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, a defence spokesman said on Monday.

Troops noticed suspicious movement along the Line of Control in Keran Sector, 167 kms from here, last night and challenged them.

However, the heavily-armed militants opened fire killing two army jawans.

Troops returned the fire and the gunbattle was going on when last reports came in.
