Thackeray Flays Maharashtra Governor Now

Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has condemned Maharashtra governor Sankarnarayanan for saying ‘anybody can live in Mumbai’, reported PTI.

“Saying that migrants will continue to come to Mumbai is akin to betrayal of Maharashtra,” Thackeray was quoted as saying in an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna in Mumbai on Saturday.

Earlier, the Governor had said: “Anybody can live in Mumbai. Only Mumbai can compete with itself. The rich, middle class and the poor co-exist here.”

Thackeray termed the Governors who reside in the sprawling Raj Bhutan by the Arabia sea as ‘Congress pensioners’ and said: “Raj Bhutan has lost touch with people’s sentiments, that’s why you say such things.”

“Had Sankaranarayanan been the Governor of Karnataka, would he have dared to say let hordes of migrants come to Bangalore,” Thackeray was quoted as saying.

“Mumbai has been made into a dharamshala. The only way to stop the influx of migrants is to start a permit system to impose curbs on those coming here,” the Shiv Sena chief was quoted as saying.
