Sutil Retires, Liuzzi Finishes 14th

After superb back-to-back performances at the Belgian and Italian GPs, Force India failed to notch any further points at the Singapore GP on Sunday with Vitantonio Liuzzi coming in 14th and Adrian Sutil pulling out after 23 laps due to accident damage.

Liuzzi starting 19th on the grid came a shade behind former team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella, who started 17th.

Speaking after the race, Vijay Mallya, chairman and team principal, said that scoring points on the day was not easy.

“I am however very pleased that Tonio (Liuzzi)has achieved his first race finish for the team and again trailed home a Ferrari. We are now looking forward to Suzuka where we hope we will see a truer reflection of our performance,” he added.

Lewis Hamilton of McLaren-Mercedes came in first clocking 1:56:06.337 followed by Timo Glock of Toyota and Fernando Alonso of Renault.

The growing number of F1 fans in India now have their eyes riveted on the Japanese GP that gets underway at Suzuka on October 2, in anticipation of another spectacular tricolor finish.
