Soren Meets Guv, Stakes Claim to Form Govt
Accompanied with his allies, JMM leader Shibu Soren has staked claim to form the government in Jharkhand.
Soren reached the Governor’s house accompanied by Yashwant Sinha, Anant Kumar, Raghuwar Das, Arjun Munda of BJP and Sudesh Mahto of All Jharkhand Students Union.
It may be mentioned that both the BJP and the Congress were eager to forge a coalition with the JMM to form next government in the state.
In the meanwhile, Nitin Gadkari, the newly appointed BJP president, said, “We have governments in eight states. When I was leaving airport, Rajnath Singh called me up saying that the government will be formed in Jharkhand, the ninth state.”
Earlier, the BJP MLAs met in Ranchi to take a decision with regard to extending support the JMM in formation of the government.
Raghuvar Das, the state president of BJP in Jharkhand, was elected leader of the party’s legislature party. BJP leaders Ananth Kumar, as party’s observer, and Rajnath Singh, as party’s authorized man to monitor formation of the government, attended the meeting.
This new development came following change in its earlier stand by BJP to sit in the Opposition in the state. However, it is still unclear if the BJP will be part of the government or support Soren from the outside.
