SIT Summons MLA Madhu Srivastava for Questioning

The Supreme Court appointed Special Investigating Team (SIT), probing some of the post-Godhra riot cases, has asked BJP leader and Waghodia MLA, Madhu Srivastava, toappear before it for questioning, said media reports on Sunday.

According to the reports, Srivastava confirmed that he had been asked by the SIT to appear before it in connection with a complaint by Zakia Jaffery being probed by the agency.

Zakia, widow of ex-MP Ehsan Jaffrey, in her complaint alleged that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and 62 others including his Cabinet colleagues, police officials and senior bureaucrats had aided and abetted the post-Godhra riots of 2002.

Srivastava’s name appears in the list of 63 submitted by Zakia. He will now appear before the SIT on March 19.

The SIT has also summoned Narendra Modi to appear before it for questioning on March 21.

Ehsan Jaffery was killed during the 2002 riots in Gulburg Society along with 69 others.

In April 2009, the Supreme Court asked the SIT to inquire into Zakia’s complaint.
