Siddaramiah elected as CM of Karnataka
New Delhi: Congress leader and leader of opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, Siddaramaiah, was elected to lead government in the state after the party’s phenomenal victory in assembly elections.
At a meeting convened to elicit the view of the newly elected party legislators on Chief Minister’s post, Siddaramaiah was appointed as the new Chief Minister of the state.
Union Labour and Employment Minister M Mallikarjuna Kharge was said to be in a straight fight with Siddaramaiah for the coveted post.
Congress put up an impressive show in Karnataka elections by bagging 121 seats, eight more than the half-way mark in a House of 224 members.
