Shoaib-Sania Marriage Rescheduled, to Take Place Today: Reports

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is going to marry Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik today as the two families are learnt to have advanced the wedding by three days, said media reports.

Reports coming in suggest that marriage, which was to originally to take place on April 15, has been rescheduled.

Sania’s spokesperson Rucha Nayak said that the ‘nikah’ would be performed soon though he refused to reveal further details, reports said.

“I will like to confirm that the nikah of Sania Mirza and and Shoaib Malik will be taking place shortly. The venue and timing cannot be confirmed as of now for security reasons,” Nayak was quoted as telling reporters.

“This is a very personal thing in Shoaib and Sania’s life. We hope you respect the sentiments of their families,” she was quoted as saying.

However, Nayak revealed details about the dresses the couple will put on for the nikah, reports said.

“Sania will be wearing a red saree that her mother had worn 25 years ago for her own nikah. Shoaib will be wearing a black sherwani which was made by Shantanu and Nikhil,” Nayak was quoted as saying.

About marriage related ceremonies, she said that ‘Mehandi’ was scheduled for tomorrow, Sangeet on April 14 and reception would be held on April 15 as scheduled.
