Shekhawat Slams BJP for Jaswant Sack

Extending crucial moral support to sacked Bhartiya Janata Party leader, Jaswant Singh, former vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Thursday opined that the treatment meted out to the former by the party was “not good”.

“The way Jaswant was treated was not good. After reading his book, there is a need to praise him…If Jaswant Singh’s book is read carefully, (one would find that) it is worth praising,” Shekhawat told reporters after Jaswant Singh called on him at his residence in New Delhi.

The BJP recently expelled former Minister for External Affairs, Jaswant Singh, after it took exception to parts in his recent book on Pakistan founder MA Jinnah.

Lamenting the party decide, Shekhawat said that there was a “fall in the standards of the party” and an increase in indiscipline.

After the meeting Jaswant Singh said he had called on Shekhawat (86) to inquire about his health.
