Setback to Kamal Hasaan, Vishwaroopam’s release deferred again

Chennai: The release of Kamal Hasan’s Vishwaroopam has been deferred again in Tamilnadu, after the Madras High Court’s two judge bench has reversed the order of single bench, which uplift the ban on Tuesday. Kamal Hasan is now decided to move Supreme Court against the High Court and said that he would look for another country to stay if he could not find a secular place in India. However many film stars and artists have come openly on the support of the film star.

The latest development in this regard came after the Tamil Nadu Government approached the Madras High Court after a single judge bench of the high court lifted the ban on Hassan’s movie. The state government sought an immediate hearing of the appeal on the issue. The Tamilnadu government has prohibited the film’s release across the state after protests by Muslim outfits, who claimed that it showed them in negative light.

Meanwhile, Hassan has agreed to delete some scenes and words in his mega-budget thriller Vishwaroopam as part of a compromise with the Muslim groups to ensure that the film release in theatres in Tamil Nadu.

“The film is not anti-Indian Muslims, but it is pro-Indian Muslims. There is no difference between me and my Muslim brothers,” the actor, who spent nearly 100 crore on the multilingual spy thriller said.

Upset over the hurdles caused by the ban on the release of the movie, Hassan in an emotional outburst, said Tamil Nadu does not want him to stay in the state and he might seek a “secular” place in the country or overseas.

During the hearing today, Advocate General A Navaneethkrishnan said the single judge had passed the order without taking into account the fact that petition (of Kamal Hasan) was not maintainable in law.
