Senior BJP leader SS Ahluwalia loses Rajya Sabha seat

RANCHI: In yet another setback to ruling BJP government their Senior leader SS Ahluwalia was defeated in Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand.

The two seats are won by Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidates. Congress’s Pradip Kumar Balmuchu secured 25 votes while JMM’s Sanjeev Kumar got 23, Ahluwalia reamins on the last position by getting just 20 votes.

In the elections held for the two Rajya Sabha seats in 82-member state assembly 68 votes were polled.

BJP is the ruling party in Jharkhand in partnership with JMM. Both parties has 18 MLAs each.Eleven members of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) and the lone MLA of CPI(ML-Liberation) does not took part in voting.
