SC pulls up CBI for delaying in Babri case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday questioned CBI over its delay in filing appeal against Allahabad HC verdict on dropping conspiracy charges against LK Advani and others in Babri case.

The court also turned down affidavit of the top investigating agency.

It is noteworthy that Allahabad High Court in May 2010 had upheld a special court’s decision to drop the charges against BJP patriarch LK Advani and 19 others. However, the Court had allowed the CBI to appeal against the verdict. The appeal was to be filed within 90 days from the HC verdict. Later, the CBI challenged the High Court’s order in the Apex Court in 2011.
