SC Promotion for Justice Patnaik, Dinakaran Dropped: Reports

Media reports appearing on the internet Sunday said the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan has dropped the name of Karnataka High Court Justice PD Dinakaran from the list of those recommended for elevation to the Supreme Court.

Justice Dinakaran was dropped due to allegations of corruption and land encroachment against him.

Justice Dinakaran has denied all allegations.

Meanwhile, the collegium has purportedly cleared the names of four others for elevation to the Apex court.

According to the reports, those meeting with the requisite approval from the collegium are Justice AK Patnaik (Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court), Justice Tirath Singh Thakur (Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court), Justice SS Nijjar (Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court) and Justice KS Radhakrishna (Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court).
