Media plays important role in creating mass awareness : CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that media plays major role in creating mass awareness towards patriotism. He said that the media given worthwhile contribution in generating the spirit of “My State” and “My Country”. He was addressing inaugural function of evening daily newspaper Lokmaya here today.

The Chief Minister said that new heights of development can be scaled if government and society work unitedly. He said that fortune of state and country will improve if every citizen and institution discharges duty with honesty and dedication.

Commerce & Industries Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that journalism was a mission during the days of freedom movement. This missionary zeal needs to be adopted again during present time. He said that positive journalism is a challenging task.

Chhattisgarh’s senior Minister Shri Brijmohan Agrawal said that such journalism is required during present time which can instill patriotism, enthusiasm and energy among people. He said that brighter aspects of society and motivational deeds should be highlighted by media. He said that state and country need positive journalism. Media’s role is decisive in democracy. He said that journalism disseminating nationalistic thoughts is the need of hour.

On the occasion, outstanding performers in the spheres of sports, social service and journalism were conferred upon Shyam Bihari Bhatnagar Memorial Awards. They included Shri Kaushal Sharma of Chhattisgarh for journalism, Smt. Madhuri Mishra for social service, international hockey player Shri Mohammad Bashir Khan and international volleyball player Shri Chandralekha Sharma.

Speaking on the occasion, senior journalist Shri Abhilash Khandekar said that journalism is a challenging task. He stressed the need to revive mission of journalism. Bank of Maharashtra Chairman Shri Naresh also expressed his views on the occasion. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan released directory of mediapersons of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Lokmaya group’s editor Shri Ashok Bhatnagar, Bhopal edition’s editor Shri Om Upadhyay, Raipur edition’s editor Shri Mukesh Tiwari and mediapersons were present on the occasion.
