SC Collegium Shifts Justice Dinakaran to Sikkim High Court

In a late night decision, the Supreme Court collegiums has shifted Karnatka High Court Chief Justice PD Dinakaran to Sikkim High Court, said media reports.

The collegiums, comprising of Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan and Justices SH Kapadia, RV Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari, had earlier asked him to go on leave.

The collegiums has sent the proposal for shifting of Justice Dinakaran to the President for approval, said reports.

In the meanwhile, Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily said that Justice Dinakaran must not think he is above the law, reports said.

“The hands of law are big enough. Justice Dinakaran is not above the law. It’s not like the law can’t reach him,” Moily was quoted as warning.

After the Rajya Sabha accepted a motion for Justice Dinakaran’s removal in respect of land grabbing charges on him, he had not been coming to carry out his judicial work since December last.

On April 1, Justice Dinakaran was asked to proceed on leave by the collegium, which appointed Justice Madan Lokur as acting Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court in his place.
