Sajjan Denied Interim Relief in 84 Anti-Sikh Riots Case

Facing threat of arrest in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has been denied interim relief by the Delhi High Court, reported PTI.

Hearing Sajjan’s anticipatory bail plea, Justice AK Pathak refused to restrain the CBI from arresting him till Monday as pleaded by him, said report.

Defence counsel IU Khan contended that the court should restrain the CBI from detaining him, for the matter is pending with the court, said report.

Khan submitted that there was no need to arrest Sajjan Kumar in the case and the High Court should grant him relief till his anticipatory bail plea is decided by the bench, report said.

The hearing will be resumed on Monday as Justice Pathak will be on leave from Friday, which opens the possibility of Sajjan Kumar being arrested by the CBI during the period.
