RSS Disagrees with Jaswant’s Jinnah Views

Seeking to distance itself from the issue, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Monday said it did not subscribe to BJP leader Jaswant Singh’s views on Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

In his book “Jinnah – India, Participation, Independence” Jaswant Singh claims that Jinnah was “demonised” by India despite the fact that it was actually prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s belief in a centralised polity that led to the partition.

Responding to queries, RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said: “I have not read the book, but whatever reports have come in the media regarding the contents of the book … we do not agree with it.”

Terming speculations of party action against Singh as ‘premature” he iterated that Singh had claimed the views expressed in the book as his own.

“It would be premature to make any comment on this issue as I have not read the book and Jaswant Singh has also categorically said in an interview that these are his personal views,” he said.
