Rahul’s Azamgarh Visit just Another Joint in the Chain: Congress

The Congress party on Wednesday said Rahul Gandhi’s proposed visit to Azamgarh should not be viewed as anything else but “another joint in a long chain” of the AICC general secretary’s countrywide interactions with students.

“Gandhi has been carrying on a quiet revolution among students. He interacts with students at an all India basis… this (Gandhi’s proposed trip to Azamgarh) has to be seen as another joint in a long chain, a part of a long process. I don’t think you should read and interpret it in any other way,” party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi was quoted as saying.

Gandhi’s proposed visit to Azamgarh was on Tuesday announced by AICC general secretary in-charge for Uttar Pradesh Digvijay Singh after he met Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

While no official schedule is available for the visit, Singh said the young Gandhi will hold discussions with students of Shibli National College at Azamgarh.

Meanwhile, Reacting to reports of the proposed tour, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said it will maintain a keen watch on Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the area.
