Pak SC Puts off Hearing in Saeed’s Case Indefinitely

Pakistan’s Supreme Court, hearing two petitions challenging the release of Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief and the mastermind of Mumbai terror attack Hafiz Saeed, has adjourned the trial indefinitely.

It should be noted that just two days ago, India said that there was “enough evidence” for carrying on with the probe against Saeed in connection with last years grisly terrorist strike in Mumbai.

AK Dogar, Saeed’s counsel, told media persons that the hearing in two petitions filed by the Federal and Punjab governments had been postponed ad infinitum by the apex court.

According to sources, the move has apparently to do with the resignation of Punjab’s Advocate General Raza Farooq yesterday, who was representing the provincial government in the hearings.

The provincial government sought time from the apex court to appoint a new Advocate General and asked for the hearing to be adjourned, sources said. .
