President Patil’s Husband ‘Lands’ in Controversy

A revenue court in Amravati district of Maharashtra has ordered the deletion of names of President Pratibha Patil’s husband Devisingh Shekhawat and other relatives from the ownership of a piece of land not far from the highway in the Chandrapur village, said media reports on Wednesday.

The order by Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Ashok Amankar came on a petition by Kishore Bansod, who had claimed that the Shekhawat clan had allegedly got their names included in the land title.

The Rashtrapati Bhawan has declined to comment on the issue, said PTI news agency in a report.

Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi also said that he would not be in a position to react without knowing the details of the case, it added.

Amankar ordered that the land be re-measured and restored to the rightful owner.
