Pranab to Discuss Women Bill with Opponents

Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid has said that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will hold discussions with those who are opposing the Women’s Reservation Bill before the government decides on the next step on it, reported PTI.

He said that government was going to reconsider the bill already cleared by the Parliamentary Standing Committee, said reports.

“I do not think we would have a re-thinking on it,” Khurshid was quoted as saying while talking to reporters in New Delhi.

The minister made the statement in response to a query about fate of the bill as it faces strong opposition from SP, BSP, JDU and LGP.

Khurshid said that Mukherjee would discuss the Bill with opponents as he pledged in the Parliament and government ‘will proceed for the next step only after discussions with them’, report said.
