Political Crisis in Andhra Deepens as MPs, MLAs Threaten to Quit

The political crisis is deepening in Andhra Pradesh with the MPs and MLAs issuing threat to step down if YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy is not made chief minister. However, Andhra Congress Committee (APCC) has made it clear that it will not relent to any show of dissidence.

Following tearing down Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s posters earlier this week, the noise to make Jagan the chief minister has almost reached its peak in Andhra Pradesh.

“I will resign from the post if Jagan is not made CM,” said Minsiter for Women Development and Child Welfare, Surekha,

On the contrary, senior party leaders and chief minister K Rosaiah are trying to check this embarrassing outburst. The APCC has warned MLA’s and MP’s not to cross their limit.

“I have asked the members not to indulge in any indisciplinary act, but they continue to do so then we will take action and report it to the high command,” said APCC President, Srinivas.

The battle for Andhra Pradesh’s top spot is getting fierce by the day. With several ministers threatening to quit in support of Jagan, and party high command pulling up state leaders time and again for the ongoing indiscipline, the common man here is left wondering how many of these acts will actually go beyond political rhetoric.
