Police Seize Maoists Explosives in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh police have seized a huge cache of explosives, which Maoists were using, reported BBC citing officials.

DGP Girish Kumar said that the explosives would have helped in making some 3,000 hand grenades, said report.

He also said that this indicated that rebels were attempting to revitalize their activities in the state, report said.

Kumar noted that Maoists had been stashing explosives at Pydiparu village, which has no history of Maoist activity, said report.

In addition to explosives, other ammunitions were also recovered which included grenade shells, live ammunition and six rocket launchers, said report quoting Kumar.

The central government has initiated a major offensive against the rebels in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
