Union Health Minister Anbumamani Ramdoss is expected to announce his resignation on Tuesday after the PMK, a political party founded by his father S Ramdoss failed to iron out issues with the Congress and subsequently took a call on allying with the Jayalaitha led AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.
“While the timing of the resignation is being worked out, the decision to align with the AIADMK has been finalised,” senior PMK aides of the Ramdoss senior were quoted as saying.
“The AIADMK offer of seven Lok Sabha constituencies and a Rajya Sabha seat in the future has been accepted by our party’s founder. This naturally means we are quitting the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition,” he added.
Tamil Nadu goes to the hustings on May 13 to elect 39 members to the lower house of parliament.
