PM Calls High Level Meet over ‘Games’

A day after the Core Committee of the Congress met to discuss the many scandals which have hit the Commonwealth Games and Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called a meeting to discuss the Games on Saturday.

Kalmadi, Delhi Chief Minister, Delhi Lt Governor, Sports Minister MS Gill, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy, Group of Ministers (GoM) in charge of the Games will be part of the high level meeting to be held at PM’s residence at 4:30 pm on Saturday. The Cabinet Secretary is also likely to attend.

On Friday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi attended the Core Committee meeting.

According to media reports citing sources an announcement, explaining the steps that will be taken to help restore confidence in the Games, will follow the conclave.

The PM will discuss various issues to prevent negative publicity for Games and final decision on whether there is a need of Oversight or Monitoring Committee, said reports.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met Congress president Sonia Gandhi to discuss CWG issues.
