16,174 Cr Annual Plan Finalised for Madhya Pradesh

A Rs.16,174 crore Annual Plan was approved for Madhya Pradesh for the year 2009-10 was approved on Friday. The outlay, which includes a onetime additional Central assistance of Rs.60 crore for projects of special interest to the state, was approved at a meeting between Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

The meeting, held in New Delhi, was attended by the State Minister for Finance Raghavji, Members of the Planning Commission and a battery of senior officials.

The plan marks a 15 per cent increase over the last year.

Of the total outlay, 49 percent is earmarked for infrastructure development, 36 percent for social sector and 15 percent for other sectors.

The amount sanctioned for development of the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes is more than the ratio of their population.

Ahluwalia complimented Chouhan on the successful implementation of various development schemes in the state.

On the occasion the chief minister sought central assistance for several schemes and projects in the state.
