PF Scam: SC to Hear Plea for Independent Autopsy, UP Orders Probe

The Supreme Court will hear an urgent application seeking an independent medico-legal examination of the post-mortem report of Provident Fund (PF) scam accused Ashutosh Asthana and preservation of his viscera on Tuesday.

The petitioner, Nahar Singh Yadav, had sought an independent probe into Asthana’s death and preservation and examination of the viscera of the deceased by an independent team of medical experts outside Uttar Pradesh.

Alleging foul play, Yadav pointed out that the key accused in the PF scam had repeatedly expressed apprehensions over the threat to his life.

Yadav quoted Asthana’s brother, who had said that the accused was in good health a day before his death under mysterious circumstances.

Meanwhile the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered multi-level probes into the Asthana’s death under mysterious circumstances at the Dasna Jail, he is suspected to have been poisoned.

In all the state government ordered three probes into the death of Asthana, the prime accused in the Rs.23 crore scam in which the names of a number of higher and lower judiciary, including that of a judge of the apex court, had cropped up.
