Paswan Seeks Drought-hit Tag for Entire Bihar
LJP President Ramvilas Paswan on Tuesday demanded that the entire state of Bihar be declared “drought hit” and accused the Nitish Kumar government of “failing” to provide relief to those affected by the calamity.
“The state government has miserably failed to reach relief to the people facing unprecedented drought,” said Paswan while speaking to reporters in Patna.
Referring to the government announcement declaring 26 out of the state’s 38 districts as drought-hit on Monday, Paswan demanded that the entire state be declared so, and urged the government to intensify relief efforts.
“The entire state be declared drought hit and relief measures be intensified to mitigate people’s miseries,” he said.
He warned that his party would launch agitations and call for a state-wide bandh, if the state government failed to immediately tackle the situation.
